3 Common mistakes leaders make.
|Having a good boss in this time and age is difficult. When you find a good boss with integrity, know that you are blessed. Such people are rare to find. Sometimes it’s not because they are bad people but because of stress, they deal with daily. Leading a successful company is not as easy as it sounds. It comes with sacrifices and hard work.
Therefore, the mistakes leaders make are, allowing emotions to get in the way and start treating the employees however they want.

Feedback is the breakfast of champions
Ken Blachard
I believe we all work for ourselves and as long as the work is done, we know we have played our parts. But we all could appreciate it if our bosses sometimes gave a small compliment about a job well done. That will always encourage me to do the job with excellence even more.
Bosses ignore the compliments. They tend to forget that the progress of the company lies in the hands of the employees. Without them, there will be no progress. Compliments are
vital for the benefit of the company and also it’s a way to motivate the employees to put even more effort.
Unapproachable Boss
Leadership is about making others better.
Unapproachable Boss
Imagine working for someone with you cannot even have a conversation. Besides, you came to work not to have conversations, but good leaders should make employees free to rush to them whenever they have new ideas. They should create a healthy working environment where employees are appreciated. Bosses should give their staff a sense of belonging to know that they can approach them whenever they want and will always be there for them.
Lack of communication skills
Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.
Jim Rohn
Leaders should develop good communication between the employees. Sometimes leaders generally assume the employees know the status of the company and what is going on but the truth of the matter is – they have no idea. Whether they might be knowing or not, they should be informed of everything they need to know. Not to be left hanging and assuming they probably know. Some companies have a meeting every Monday and Friday, which is good. Simply because employees will be up to date on what is happening in the company and where they should improve. This is very helpful if you want to see drastic changes in the company.
Being a leader is fun yet it comes with its pecks. If you want to be a good leader, establish good communication skills, be approachable to the employees, and do not forget to compliment them whenever they do something good. These are the points I found necessary for leaders to fix.
What other mistakes have you seen or encountered at work from your bosses?
From my heart to yours

This is an excellent post. The three mistakes made by leaders listed by you are all too common. I have been mindful of these mistakes for as long as I can remember. I am certainly fortunate regarding this topic as I have had the privilege of being a leader, including that as CEO to a number of organisations.
Over the years I have used different methods of praise to great effect. This might be a note on someoneβs computer (highly effective), an email to them or praise to teams at a meeting. Also, I make sure performance reviews are about training and development.
When I started work, a long time ago, the managerβs door was always shut. I have always had an open door policy. If I need to close it, then I let those around me know when and why.
The last mistake is one that I am extremely passionate about. I have always held in person quarterly updates to all staff on how the organisation is going and how they have helped me achieve goals each quarter. Then on top of that, as soon as the budget is set for the year ahead, I personally roll out the budget with all staff so they understand how and why we need to achieve what lies ahead.
There is no doubt in my mind, by minimising the three mistakes, staff engagement will significantly improve π
Wowowee Amazing to know that you have been mindful of these mistakes. I think they are minor mistakes that can be fixed.
Do you do personal reviews? Amazing πthis just indicates your level of commitment to your staff members.
I love your transparency in your business. I feel like I should have collaborated with you on this one. I just spoke about minor mistakes and I didn’t go in-depth in the points. Next time I’ll email you so that you can explain further. This is super informative.
Thank you so muchπππ

π Brilliant Post EveryOne, as SomeOne who was Bullied and Invalidated Out of The WorkForce on to Welfare Disability Pension due to My Bullying “Bosses” and My Standing Up to The Bully “Bosses” here’s My Additional Point; if YOU!!! Feel YOU!!! ARE Being Bullied and/or Harrassed then Take Some Form of Action such as:
1. Change Perception of The Situation, there may bad things going on for The “Boss” psychologically; this is NOT!!! an Excuse for Bad “Boss” Behaviour, it’s a Possible Reason
2. Review Company Policy and Procedures about Bullying then speak confidently and confidentially with HR (Company internal representatives or external consultants) to explore ways to stop the Bullying and Resolve the Relationship with The “Boss”
3. Quit and find another job with a Better “Boss” even if it’s scary; it’s worse to stay in the certainty of a Bad Situation than to explore the uncertainty of a Better Situation
…so, I Hope This Helps EveryOne; it’s Crystal Clear Clarity that Bullying and Harassment at Work is Totally UnAcceptable Behaviour…
…πππ…
These are truly helpful tips. Whoever will pass on the comments section shall be helped with these tips. Bullying at workplaces is not good and sometimes it can lead into depression and stress

Leaders with low self esteem
Leaders who do not believe in themselves…its very difficult to serve such a person
Very
I have had some terrible employers and some excellent employers.
Two of the best I ever had would kick my butt and tune me up when it was needed. I hated it at the time but upon reflection they were right. They also would listen to my thoughts on how to do a job regardless of if my opinion was right or wrong. They would encourage and push me to get out of my comfort zone and move forward in my profession. They are still firm friends after decades which was one of the intangible benefits.
The terrible employers were simply that … terrible. I learnt that honeyed words are nothing when you are not considered to be anything more than a commodity to them.
A large part of what makes a good or bad leader is their personal traits and beliefs un-tempered by the responsibility of the position they hold.
Personal traits do affect the environment of the workplace. And it’s good to have employers who pushes you to the limit. Thank you for reading.
You are so very welcome in your response.
