Shooting my Shot Part3

Heyy Guys….Welcome to my blog. Am going to fully become vulnerable into pouring myself out in giving all my ‘Whys’ into entering Miss South Africa pageant.

Why do you think you are the best candidate for this title?

Am all about change and purpose, specifically for women in South Africa. This platform will give me an opportunity to represent South Africa for what it truly is and become an advocate to drive change and empowering women to be intentional in walking in their purposes and become the best version of themselves.

How are you going to facilitate change in South Africa?

Most people are afraid of change. I’ll firstly become an advocate of change, educate people about the power of the mind. Change begins in the mind. If a mind hasn’t grasped it, nothing else will change.

Why did you decide to enter this competition?

I’ve realised that this platform will give me an opportunity to be a steward and serve my country with honesty as possible.

Why should you win the title?

I’ll make a good representation of our country for what it truly is. Am a firm believer that the beauty of our nation lies within our diversity.

What are your thoughts in women empowerment??

We want to see women empowered to move forward as a nation. Once a woman is empowered, the whole nation becomes empowered. So far there are huge developments in prioritizing women empowerment.

How are you going to connect with the diverse people of South Africa?

I believe in relatability. People will relate with my background and where i come from. As a young girl from humble beginnings, I’ll be able to connect with people from different walks of life.

What do you like most about yourself?

Am an exhortationist at heart and it gives me fulfilment to see other people succeed and evolving into the best version of themselves.

How would you describe your work ethic?

i have an exceptional work ethic, such that I allow my work to speak for itself. For any task given I perform twice as hard.

Who is your role model?

I look up to my mother. She’s an epitome of endurance personified. She managed to raise us on her own. And despite of her disability she conquered against all odds.

If you could meet any person in history, who would it be?

Mitchell Obama
During the lockdown i read her book titled Becoming. She’s such a force to be reckoned with. A woman of stature and her humility makes her relatable to every woman from all kinds of spheres.

Who is the person you look up to most??

My mother. If there’s any person I want to evolve into is my own mother. She raised me to realize that disability is just a state of mind.

What celebrity do you idolise?

Idolatry could be exaggeration. I have no idol. Lets say a celebrity I look up to…Mmasechaba Ndlovu. She is a voice for women. Her bravery has unlocked greatness in her. I think there are pieces of me in her.

If you could be anyone else besides yourself who would you be?

Any physically challenged person. I’m much fascinated by their thoughts. That’s the reason I want to partner with disabled organizations. I want to empower them with limitless thoughts to realize that disability is not inability.

Do celebrities have a responsibility to be positive role models?

Yes they do have a responsibility. The youth imitates every decision they take. As much as they have to model themselves to be influential, they should also be reminded that they are human and they mistakes too.

Would you say that you are a good role model??

Yes i think i am. My sphere of influence is not as big but am greatful for the people who are under my accontability and looks up to me.

What will be the first thing you eat after the pageant??

My mom’s mogodu ( tribe )

What’s the first thing you will do after the pageant is over?

Eat as much chocolate cake as i can

What has been your biggest disappointment? And how did you overcome?

When I dropped out of varsity. I felt broken and thought my life was over and I’ll never recover. I had to pull myself together and start restructuring my priorities. One thing I knew was that even if plans changes, purpose stays same.

What is the most important issue your peers or generation are facing?

Unemployment has been a challenge in our generation. I’ve experienced it myself and it can be daunting.
In this platform I’d want to assist in developing substantial skill development and job creations for our youth.


Gender based violence
It’s saddening to see how gender based violence keeps occuring in our country. Women losing their lives in the hands of people who are supposed to protect them. This has so far become a national crisis.

What do you think is the biggest problem facing teens today?

Crime and gangsterism
It has consumed our younger brothers. We’ve lost young lives who involved themselves in gangs which resulted in endangering the society.

Why do you think people have a negative image of pageantry?

Pageantry have now evolved flexibly, in the past you had to look a certain way to be well fitting of the title. Now every form of beauty is well represented.

With the current negative media attention around pageantry, what advice would you give to someone on the fence about competing?

Take a leap of faith and enter the pageant. You are sure to be empowered and to transform into a brave, fierce and unapologetic young lady. Shoot your shot, you never know what’s on the other side for you.

Do you think that pageantry objectifies women?

Not at all, I think pageantry gives women an opportunity to be as authentic as they possibly could and to be true to who they are.

Have you experienced criticism competing in the pageantry? If so, how did you handle it?

I haven’t experienced any criticism. My family wasn’t keen at first but they supported me eventually.

What would you say to someone who says pageantry degrade women?

They should really make research about it. You’ll be shocked to realise how this platform empowers women to emerge.

Have you ever been bullied? If so, how did you handle it?

No I don’t remember experiencing any bullying ever since I was born.

How do you handle peer pressure?

Am not easily pressured because I learnt to walk in my own path and run my own race. We all have destiny awaiting of us.

How did you prepare for this pageant?

I continued to exercise and watched previous Miss South Africa shows on YouTube for guidelines. Part of my preparation is now answering this questions. Kikikikikkk.

What kind of obstacles did you have to overcome to compete in this pageantry?

We have not been shortlisted as yet but I think my challenge will be doing my facial make up, i cannot do make up. Kkkkkk But am learning.

Did you hire a pageant coach to help you?

No I did not hire any coach

Who helped you to prepare for this pageant?

My family and confidant

What was the hardest sacrifice you had to make when preparing for this title?

I had to watch my eating habits and stopped with all my favourite junkies.

Why do you think your platform is important?

Young people across the coutry will be looking up to me and I have to enforce an environment where they’ll really find something to learn from me beyond any doubt.

Do you think social media is hurting relationships or communication skills?

I think it does, as much as it plays a huge role in our lives, people no longer genuinely engage in conversations, all their time is spent on social media.

Is social media bringing people together or causing separation?

It brings people together. It is the only platform that is capable of gathering people as a form of announcement.

If you woke up today and gained any superhero powers, what would that be?

A vaccine to completely cure corona virus

If you could have only one wish, what would you wish for?

I wish for our country to have a female president.

What is your biggest fear?

Am scared to die having not fulfilled my purpose.

What is your favourite food?

Dumpling

What is your favourite dessert?

Malva pudding

Favourite childhood memory?

When we played ‘house’ and I was always a father.

Hidden talent – What is that one thing that we would not know about you just by looking at you?

I bake scrumptious scones and biscuits.

How will you handle all the responsibilities of the crown on top of your job and family?

Am an orderly and strategic person so i always make sure plan ahead. Planning my tasks will keep me focused as I’ll set aside time to spend with my family.

What is your dream vacation?

New York

What has been your favourite place you have visited?

I haven’t travelled as yet but I do plan to take vacations in the future

Tell us about favourite family vacation?

We have not been in any family vacation as yet. I guess l’ll be the first person to initiate family vacations once all is settled.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?

Baby girl, ‘RELAX’. Life is a journey. Just relax, have fun and trust the process. All shall work out in due time.
