Its okay to cry – The benefits of crying

In the times we live in, we have normalized strength. We love it when people regard us as powerful. And we think tears are meant for the weak only. Let me tell you that tears are actually for strong people. Have you not realized the relief that comes after crying? You feel like the heavyweight on your shoulder has been lifted off of you. That’s just how powerful tears are. Tears are created for a specific purpose – to relieve the human mind from any discomfort.

I believe after this post, you will be delivered from thinking you are too old, too strong, and too powerful to cry. I would love to see more of your tears from now on.

Statistics prove that the life expectancy of males is low. The main dominating reason is that society says men do not cry. ‘Men are strong’. Everyone is supposed to cry when they’ve had it up to the breaking point. Nothing can cleanse the heart more than a few wet tears. I believe as women, we have mastered this one – that is why we live longer than males. Isn’t it?

Let’s look at some of the benefits of crying below.

The benefits of crying.

  • Deep connections with others

The more you cry, the more you connect with people on a deeper level. It becomes easier for them to avail themselves to you as you outpour yourself. When you are vulnerable to people, they are most likely to avail themselves of comfort. Crying helps to establish a deep connection with people for them to be of service to you.

  • It helps to come to terms with the loss.

I used to wonder why people always cried so hard when someone has passed away. I might not have gotten an answer at the time. One thing I realized was that they would look so relieved after crying. Their tears would make marks on the cheeks, but they looked much more cheerful. That’s how I realized crying soothed the heart, and it made one feel calmer.

  • It restores emotional balance.

A lot of people with emotional imbalance are mainly males. They believe that a male should not cry. It is one of the lies in society. However, REAL MEN CRY. And those who do not cry, often, are mainly emotionally imbalanced. Crying is needed to feel better. The pressure of this life becomes so intense that you need to relieve it.

It is better to cry than to be angry because anger hurts others while tears flow silently through the soul and soothes the heart.

  • Relieves the tension and heaviness.

That sense of relief that you feel after crying, is what makes tears to be significant. In many cases, you will find yourself holding back the tears when you have been triggered. It can be at a wedding, funeral, or maybe watching something emotional on tv. Holding back usually never solves anything. The more you hold back, the more tension you feel. It’s always advisable not to hold back the tears when you feel like it.

  • Helps to move forward in life.

Tears will help you to easily move on, and not hold on to what has happened. The more one cries, the more it becomes easier to head over the other side of life. Cry more so that you can release yourself from holding on to the past.

  • It relieves emotional pain.

The emotional baggage is way too painful to deal with in life. But every time you cry, you flush out the toxicity of the pain. And then it becomes more bearable. Eventually, the pain does not feel as painful as it was before. Therefore you are encouraged to cry more.

I would love to see more of your tears from now on.
