Its okay to cry – The benefits of crying
In the times we live in, we have normalized strength. We love it when people regard us as powerful. And we think tears are meant for the weak only. Let me tell you that tears are actually for strong people. Have you not realized the relief that comes after crying? You feel like the heavyweight on your shoulder has been lifted off of you. That’s just how powerful tears are. Tears are created for a specific purpose – to relieve the human mind from any discomfort.
I believe after this post, you will be delivered from thinking you are too old, too strong, and too powerful to cry. I would love to see more of your tears from now on.
Statistics prove that the life expectancy of males is low. The main dominating reason is that society says men do not cry. ‘Men are strong’. Everyone is supposed to cry when they’ve had it up to the breaking point. Nothing can cleanse the heart more than a few wet tears. I believe as women, we have mastered this one – that is why we live longer than males. Isn’t it?
Let’s look at some of the benefits of crying below.
The benefits of crying.
- Deep connections with others
The more you cry, the more you connect with people on a deeper level. It becomes easier for them to avail themselves to you as you outpour yourself. When you are vulnerable to people, they are most likely to avail themselves of comfort. Crying helps to establish a deep connection with people for them to be of service to you.
- It helps to come to terms with the loss.
I used to wonder why people always cried so hard when someone has passed away. I might not have gotten an answer at the time. One thing I realized was that they would look so relieved after crying. Their tears would make marks on the cheeks, but they looked much more cheerful. That’s how I realized crying soothed the heart, and it made one feel calmer.
- It restores emotional balance.
A lot of people with emotional imbalance are mainly males. They believe that a male should not cry. It is one of the lies in society. However, REAL MEN CRY. And those who do not cry, often, are mainly emotionally imbalanced. Crying is needed to feel better. The pressure of this life becomes so intense that you need to relieve it.
It is better to cry than to be angry because anger hurts others while tears flow silently through the soul and soothes the heart.

- Relieves the tension and heaviness.
That sense of relief that you feel after crying, is what makes tears to be significant. In many cases, you will find yourself holding back the tears when you have been triggered. It can be at a wedding, funeral, or maybe watching something emotional on tv. Holding back usually never solves anything. The more you hold back, the more tension you feel. It’s always advisable not to hold back the tears when you feel like it.
- Helps to move forward in life.
Tears will help you to easily move on, and not hold on to what has happened. The more one cries, the more it becomes easier to head over the other side of life. Cry more so that you can release yourself from holding on to the past.
- It relieves emotional pain.
The emotional baggage is way too painful to deal with in life. But every time you cry, you flush out the toxicity of the pain. And then it becomes more bearable. Eventually, the pain does not feel as painful as it was before. Therefore you are encouraged to cry more.
I would love to see more of your tears from now on.

I don’t remember the last time i cried
That’s wonderful
It means you have been in a good space and that’s a great way to live.
Hole it stays that way….may your next tears be tears of joy not of sadness and sorrow. Lots of love.
Stopped crying when i am sad…
When sad, i play music and dance away or i go get a hug
That’s what I do at times….but crying is my first option before anything else 🤣🤣🤣
It was such an inexplicably beautiful feeling to submerge myself into this stream of word tears. I feel so relaxed and calm after swimming through and finding a rock to sunbathe.
If tears were a talent or a gift, then think of it, we all have this talent and gift to cry and produce different tears for different situations, for all our pains and sorrows for our yesterdays and our todays for our joys and our happiness.
With our cries we create tears.
It is our god-given gift and talent
We should use it for all these benefits you so beautifully articulated through the written word.
Thank you Shazz, i appreciate this powerful message.

I had to copy and paste it here. This is wonderful. I appreciate you. With our cries we indeed create tears.
Our God given talent👏👏👏

The wonder and magic, the beauty in this blog is indescribable.
So c’mon cry to me.
We can all do it. 🙂❤
Thank you so much❤❤❤
I love you
The last time I cried was after screwing-up and pushing away a woman who wanted to love me, on the radio I heard, “Hello darkness my old friend …”, and tears flowed down my cheeks to fall from my jaw like they hadn’t in years.
Those rivers of sorrow were release, expression I dearly needed at the time. A lesson needed to be learned, the tears didn’t teach, but I had to get them out so I could breathe and decide to learn.
Thanks for this post mate.
Wowwww that is a sad story Mate. I’m glad you were able to express yourself through tears. It must have been difficult to push the woman you loved away. But we grow everyday And I hope you learnt something.
Good one mate.
Great posts i cry but not often i think i have a had some challenges coming to me more often that it became so bearable without crying, especially death of loved once. Not that i suppress but the tears dont just come that naturally..LOL.
But i do admit that it helps.
I agree
There are times where you are in pain and yet difficult to cry. It differs with a lot of people. Especially us, women, find it very easy to express ourselves with tears. It does help.
It’s one of the natural remedies for pain and heartbreak.
But lets talk about this sometimes i feel like when i’m leading breaking down in front of those following me like my family, i kinda feel like it causes panic in the camp.
Sometimes the only option is to be strong to instill hope and courage.
Yeah I understand
It’s not easy breaking down in front of people whom you are supposed to be strong for. Better know the right people to cry to whenever you are going through something.
I agree with you, the best option is to be strong and courageous.
Beautifully written, I didn’t know a lot about it but the fact is I am very emotional any sorrow brings my tear and I feel so sad. I thought I am very weak. I don’t know actually what I am 🙂thank you for sharing 🙂🌹
Never be ashamed to break down and cry my dearest. There is nothing wrong with that. You are a beautiful soul and use your tears as an outlet.
I always do the same. I’m so sentimental, crazy trust people very easily and when get hurt just cry. And feel I’m a great stupid
Absolutely
I see now, crying is necessary.
I won’t feel shy again to shed off my tears. I want release all this trauma.
Thanks for sharing my friend

The secret is not to feel bad whenever we feel the edge to cry. No need to retract the tears back
